Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture for Endometriosis

Woman clutching her stomach from pain

Endometriosis is one of the major gynecological disorders that affects roughly 10% of reproductive age women globally. For many of them, it is a debilitating, life-impacting painful situation that comes every single month. Kampo Health Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture Clinic is dedicated to help your endometriosis along with other hormonal issues such as irregular periods, heavy bleeding, severe cramps. Instead of painkillers, birth control pills or surgery, we provide natural alternative treatment to improve the symptoms, enhance reproductive health by addressing the underlying causes.

What causes endometriosis?

One popular hypothesis is called “Retrograde Menstruation”, the backflow of menstrual blood through the fallopian tubes and into the abdominal cavity causes endometriosis. The pelvic cavity is a very crowded visceral space hosting small and large intestines, uterus, ovaries, bladder, kidneys and a very dense network of blood and lymphatic vessels. There is a space between the ovary and the fallopian tube, and blood can escape the uterus through this passage into the pelvic cavity, spreading the endometrial tissue to the neighboring organs and causing further problems in other systems. e.g. digestive issue, fertility issue etc,

Conventional treatments are pain medications, hormonal medications(mainly birth control pills), surgery for severe and late stage cases. None of above addresses the blood flow blockage issue that mentioned in “Retrograde Menstruation”.

Chinese medicine’s approach

At Kampo Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture clinic, we apply Chinese Medicine principles to treat endometriosis in three fronts: Blockage of blood flow, Heat/inflammatory response. Stress management. Pain and hormones are not actually the focus here. Chinese medicine thinks unregulated stress response and inflammatory response disturb the balance of the hormone system, as well as the free flow of Qi and blood. Therefore by reducing stress and decreasing heat/inflammation, clearing the blood blockage not only results in reduction, even elimination of pain and cramps, but also a better balanced hormone system. Chinese medicine achieve this goal through the means of herbal medicine, acupuncture, and change of unhealthy lifestyle and diet.
If you have been suffering from endometriosis or severe menstrual pain, Dalu Wang, R.TCMP and acupuncturist in downtown Toronto provides authentic Chinese medicine treatment. With his personalized herbal formula and gentle acupuncture treatment, your endometriosis can be well managed naturally without impacting your reproductive health. Book your initial visit now!
